  • Canadian women's soccer team wins gold medal at the Olympics against Sweden

History has been made. Canada has won Gold in soccer. The Canadian women’s national soccer team has won an Olympic gold medal against Sweden in penalty kicks 3-2. 

 Julia Grosso scored the winning goal to the end. 

Sweden’s Stina Blackstenius scored in the 34th minute but Jessie Fleming took advantage from the penalty spot in the 67th minute.

Burnaby's Christine Sinclair as Team Captain has been pushing for this moment for 20 years. 

It’s the first-ever Olympic title for the Canadian women’s soccer team.
