Cowell Auto Group to break ground on all new Audi and Jaguar Land Rover Dealerships

Cowell Auto Group, 24 Sep, 2015 03:32 PM

Richmond-based Cowell Auto Group will host a groundbreaking ceremony for their all-new Audi of Richmond and Jaguar Land Rover of Richmond dealerships, located in the Richmond Auto Mall, on Friday, September 25th at 11:30am. Over 150 media, manufacturer executives, staff, community leaders and VIPs will be on-site to celebrate.

Cowell Auto Group’s expansion in the Richmond Auto Mall will provide the most luxurious and customer-friendly shopping experience possible. Each state-of-the-art facility is over 100,000 square feet with multi-level showrooms, and covered customer parking. The estimated investment for these two dealerships is over $60 million.

“Cowell Auto Group has grown significantly over the past decade and we have had to think differently when designing our new facilities.” said Ryan Cowell, President of Development. “For example, we have taken our rainy Vancouver weather into account and are building covered parking for our inventory, to ensure our customers are provided with a different, yet comfortable shopping experience. From the moment a customer sets foot on a Cowell Auto Group property, they will be offered luxurious shopping alongside of our award-winning customer service.”

Cowell Auto Group is proud to be the oldest continuously owned retail automobile dealership in Richmond and one of the oldest in Metro Vancouver. The organization has been a family-owned and operated business since 1967, when Gary Cowell opened Cowell Volkswagen at Westminster Highway and No. 3 Road. The organization enjoyed further success in 1985 when it moved to the Richmond Auto Mall. In 1997 they opened Audi of Richmond and Land Rover of Richmond; Jaguar Richmond followed in 2002.

“We are proud to be part of the successful growth of our community for the past 48 years.” says Rand Cowell, President. “With the groundbreaking ceremony we are setting the stage to help the community grow for the future. These new facilities will not only provide excellent employment opportunities for people over the next 3 to 5 years, it will also enable Cowell Auto Group to create a meaningful difference for our employees and community!”

Cowell Auto Group was recognized in 2015 as one of Canada’s Top Small & Medium Sized Employers by the Globe and Mail, and was voted Business of the Year (76+ Employees) by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. The group currently employs over 240 people, and donates upwards of $100,000 per year to support a variety of non-profit organizations through sponsorship programs and volunteering opportunities for staff.

Completion is anticipated for Autumn 2016. Business is as usual, with Audi, Jaguar and Land Rover operating out of their current facilities until completion.

The term “hot hatch” is thrown around so much nowadays that it’s sometimes difficult to remember the origin of the term. Every few years or so, Volkswagen reminds us by releasing a new  GTI, like the seventh generation version of the famous hatchback initially introduced this time last year.

It’s not by coincidence that many police forces in North America choose the Charger to be in their fleets. Dodge calls this year’s revision a “full-body” makeover – inspired by a certain 1969 predecessor –  involving a new hood, new fenders, new front and rear lighting, the list goes on and on.
