Bassi Properties: Building Communities, Not Just Homes

    Delta is rapidly growing. It is this growth that has encouraged many home buyers to make the city their home.     Gary Bassi, founder of Bassi Properties, migrated from India to Vancouver in his early twenties and started his first development company, Highmark Homes. His son, Hardeep, began working for the company at the tender age of 13, learning the skills and trades of the home development industry. Together the father-son duo has created a dynamic team that has continued to build on a trusted name in the community.

    The company’s portfolio comprises of condos, town homes and land acquisition. “Our objective is to build homes that are reliable, affordable, and of quality,” says Hardeep, who is a graduate from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia (UBC). “We take pride in the homes we build.”

    “To Bassi Properties, it is about building something that will withstand the test of time. We want our buildings to not only enhance the community but we want the community to be proud of them,” says Hardeep about the company’s work. He further points out, “for us it is about building a reputation and brand homebuyers can trust.”

    After establishing a remarkable presence in Ladner, the company is now expanding to North Delta. Bassi Properties recently developed Stegavik Court which comprises of 30 single family lots in North Delta, and is getting ready to launch 40 town homes later this year on 116th Street and 72nd Avenue.

    One of their current projects is Muse located at 9015 Scott Road in North Delta. Muse is an elegant six-storey building that encompasses 101 condominium suites and four townhomes, as well seven commercial units. Its amenities include a large comfortable social lounge, fully equipped fitness centre, secure underground parking, and storage lockers. “All commercial units and 40% of the residential units were sold in just two months,” reveals an excited Hardeep.

    With an aim to make their homes functional and livable, the company pays close attention to all details – right from the initial stages of development to the very end. “During the design stage we work closely with our trusted architects to ensure our buildings and homes will enhance and promote the community. For Muse, we made sure our condo units were larger than anything offered in the area and at a better price” says Hardeep, adding that Muse has been getting rave reviews for its design.

    The company’s exceptional work has been greatly appreciated by the City of Delta and its Councillors. Bruce McDonald, Councillor of Delta Municipal Council, vouches for Bassi Properties’ outstanding work. “Bassi Properties has done very well. The company produces exactly what they promise,” says he.

    Councillor McDonald, also the Community Planning Advisory Committee Chair, is well-aware of the Muse project. “For many years we have been trying to refurbish Scott Rd. Bassi’s project is a positive move in that direction,” he shares. Muse will benefit the community, he asserts, “The project will show active involvement in the area and encourage other developers as well. They are providing affordable housing which is a real necessity.”

    Scott Hamilton, MLA Delta North and former Delta City Councillor, has worked closely with Bassi Properties during his tenure as Councillor. “I have known Gary and Hardeep for 15 years. Bassi Properties is a well-established organization that believes in delivering quality products,” says Hamilton, adding, “They are in par with many other companies in town, and exceed my expectations every time.”

    Hamilton believes that Muse will be a great addition to Delta. “The project will bring new life and vibrancy to the city. I am looking forward to the development.”

    The company also works closely alongside young entrepreneurs and start ups in the South Asian community – one of the many aspects that make them different from similar companies around. “We are currently working with a number of organizations that promote South Asian youth to start their own businesses. It is important for us to give back to our community.” says Hardeep.
