Amritsar Man Kills NRI Daughter, Commits Suicide

Darpan News Desk IANS, 25 Feb, 2019 08:24 PM

A non-resident Indian (NRI) girl was allegedly killed by her father at their residence in Amritsar on Sunday, said police. The man, a retired engineer later hanged himself in the house.

David Masih (60) allegedly hit his daughter Niloufar (35) on the head using an iron rod. Upon investigation, the police found that Masih committed the crime as he was suffering from depression. He later hanged himself from a ceiling fan in his house in Gulmohar Avenue, added the police.

Notably, Niloufar had come to meet her parents a few days before the tragic incident. Nilofaur’s mother had gone to a nearby church for Sunday prayers when the incident took place. She came to know about the horror on her way back home after which she began to scream, thereby alerting the neighbours.

Meanwhile, the exact details behind the incident are being investigated, said Deputy Commissioner of Police MS Bhullar.

In a similar tragic incident on January 11, a man was arrested for allegedly beating his two children to death in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district. The accused was identified as 30-year-old Ramesh Vadhera. A case was registered in connection with the matter after a complaint was filed by accused’s father.

In a yet another horrific incident last year, a 60-year-old woman and her differently-abled daughter were found bludgeoned to death inside their flat in Mianwali area of the national capital.

The deceased were identified as Shashi Talwar and Nidhi. According to police, “Shashi Talwar’s throat was slit and her daughter Nidhi was killed with blunt force. Their hands and mouth were tied.”
