Burnaby RCMP seize catalytic converters

Mounties in Burnaby have seized 439 catalytic converters in a lengthy theft and trafficking investigation.

R-C-M-P say they found the converters after conducting search warrants at four locations linked to one man who allegedly ran a mobile metal recycling business.

Police say most of the converters, which are part of the vehicles exhaust system, are believed to be stolen, including nearly 400 prepackaged for shipment to the United States.

The man faces charges of attempting to possess and traffic property obtained by crime.

The British Columbia government has set out its first set of targets for thousands of new homes to be built in 10 cities or municipalities in an effort to chip away at the provincial housing crisis.
