Fatal hit and run in Surrey

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Nov, 2023 11:30 AM
  • Fatal hit and run in Surrey

Police in Surrey are investigating a fatal crash where one of the drivers fled the scene.

Mounties say a white Ford Mustang was travelling southbound when it collided with a black Toyota Corolla at an intersection causing significant damage to both vehicles.

Police say the man driving the Mustang was transported to hospital with minor injuries while the male passenger of the Corolla died of his injuries.

The driver was described as a South Asian male in his 20’s, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans.

Alcohol and speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors, and the investigation into the collision is in the very early stages.

Police are on scene examining the collision, collecting video and interviewing witnesses. 128th street was closed to all traffic from 80th avenue to 84th avenue, and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

They say the driver of the Corolla fled the scene on foot and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the area is being asked to call police.
