Firearm located on the grounds of an elementary school in Surrey

Darpan News Desk Surrey RCMP, 10 Feb, 2022 05:41 PM
  • Firearm located on the grounds of an elementary school in Surrey

On Thursday, February 10, 2022, Surrey RCMP responded to a report from Bothwell Elementary in Fraser Heights that a firearm had been located by a student on the grounds of the school. The students were immediately brought inside by school staff and police were called.

The firearm has been seized and further work and analysis will be done to determine if there are any connections to any ongoing investigations. Surrey RCMP is working closely with partners at the Surrey School District as well as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“Anytime a firearm is located by a member of the public it’s concerning, and in this case it was an elementary school student,” says Constable Sarbjit Sangha, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. “It shows the blatant disregard for the safety of others, from whoever disposed of this firearm.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502, or Crime Stoppers, if they wish to remain anonymous, at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
