  • Heat records set, matched in five B.C. communities across province's Interior

Five British Columbia communities reached record temperature highs on Thursday as warm weather blanketed much of Western Canada.

The highest temperatures were reported in Pemberton and Trail, with both tying previous highs by reaching 34.4 degrees.

For Trail, that temperature has not been recorded on May 28 since 1934.

In Kelowna, Environment Canada says temperatures reached 34.1 on Thursday, breaking the old mark of 32.7 degrees set in 1995.

Summerland and Vernon also broke daily highs by reaching 32.6 and 33.8 degrees respectively.

High temperature records have fallen in significant numbers in recent days in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with much of the region under a heat warning for highs reaching 35 degrees.
