The Honourable Minister of Defence, Harjit Sajjan is a man of motivation not only to the South Asian community but the Canadian society as a whole. Sajjan was the first Sikh to take command of an army regiment in Canada. Not only has he served the country a soldier, but has also performed dedicatedly as an efficient police officer. During his term in the army, Sajjan was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina and served three separate deployments to Kandhar, Afghanistan. For his exceptional service in reducing the Taliban’s influence in the Kandhar province, Sajjan has been adorned with serveral awards for his service including the Meritorious Service Medal.
