
Sarbjit Singh Cheema is an Indian-Canadian singer and actor who has spent his career preserving and celebrating Punjabi culture through music and film. Born on June 14, 1948 in Cheema Kalan, Jalandhar, he grew up excelling in both academics and sports while nurturing a love for music. His passion took shape at Lyallpur Khalsa College, where he performed bhangra at state and university levels before moving to Canada in 1989.
Trained under music mentors Balraj Bassi and B.S. Narang, Cheema released his debut album Yaar Nachde in 1993. His iconic track Rangla Punjab from the 1996 album Mela Vekhdiye Mutyare became an anthem of Punjabi pride, cementing his place as a cultural torchbearer. He later ventured into acting, debuting with Pind Di Kudi in 2004, expanding his reach in Punjabi entertainment.
