Daisy Bains

Name: Daisy Bains

Year: 2025
Presented By: Dr. Harinder Dhanju, President, Pacific Oral Health Society
Bio:

From over 6,000 applicants across Canada, Surrey’s Daisy Bains was selected as one of just 36 recipients of the prestigious $100,000 Loran Scholarship, awarded for exceptional leadership, character, and service. A student at École Kwantlen Park Secondary, Daisy sees the honor as both recognition and responsibility: “It’s not just about what I’ve done, it’s a promise to keep working for positive change.”

Her leadership shines through initiatives that bring culture and equity to the forefront. She co-founded the BIPOC Racial Equity Program in her school, tackling gaps in education around inclusivity and awareness. She also proudly introduced a Giddha dance team, blending her love for Punjabi traditions with the joy of community building.

Despite her achievements, Daisy remains grounded. Guided by her Sikh faith, she values family time, enjoys fashion, and laughingly calls herself a “huge shopaholic.”

Looking ahead, she hopes to return to Surrey as a general practitioner, serving the community that shaped her. With humility and determination, Daisy Bains is already making an impact far beyond her years.
